The city of Rijeka is located in southeastern Europe, with the University situated on Trsat hill. The Faculty of Physics at the University of Rijeka is a dynamic institution that combines youthful energy with a substantial academic heritage. While the University was established 50 years ago, physics education in Rijeka has an even longer tradition, extending back over six decades.

The Faculty has built a strong reputation for its expertise in experimental physics, particularly in solid-state physics and astrophysics. At the same time, emerging fields including optics, environmental physics, and theoretical physics are experiencing rapid growth and development.

Our modern laboratories feature state-of-the-art equipment, including atomic layer deposition systems, scanning electron microscopes, and advanced laser technology. This sophisticated infrastructure supports both cutting-edge research and hands-on student training.

Currently, faculty members are engaged in an exciting project focused on developing theoretical models of spin lasers, combined with educational outreach initiatives to share physics knowledge with the broader community.
